Mitcham Office, London

Fit-out, upgrade and refurbishment of a 4,000 sq ft light industrial unit in Mitcham, London.
The client’s brief was to reorganise their office-based working environment to create a more open and collaborative workspace for different departments, better supporting the warehouse staff and wider operational activities. The office accommodation was also to reflect the company’s evolving online identity and branding.
The proposal introduces clusters of desks, retaining elements of the team structure found within the previous cellular layout. Low-level shelving and storage units define distinct working zones while maintaining openness and visual connection across the floorplate. A continuous spine wall runs along the rear of the space, accommodating cabling and data infrastructure to serve the desk clusters. Wall panelling in the form of notice boards and partition mullions continue the strong vertical rhythm established by the glazing and corrugated facade.
Glazed meeting rooms and breakout spaces are positioned at the end of the floorplate, while new internal windows provide a visual connection between the office and warehouse. A new orange-yellow rubber floor finish runs throughout the upper office level — a direct reference to the company’s existing digital branding and industrial use. Extruded metal signage is introduced at key points within the communal areas and externally is placed symmetrically over the entrances announcing their presence.
